Atlanta Association Elects First Female President in 30-Year History

The Atlanta chapter of the Wakirike diaspora association has elected Dr. Karibo Amachree as its first female president in the organisation's thirty-year history, following a closely contested vote.

Amachree, a longtime member and former scholarship committee chair, campaigned on expanding the association's homeland investment fund.

'It took thirty years, but I don't think it will take another thirty before the next one,' she said following the announcement.
