Teenage Coder Builds App Connecting Fishermen to Real-Time Market Prices
By Ibiba Amachree· 26 June 2026
A 17-year-old self-taught programmer has built a mobile app that gives fishermen real-time access to fish prices across three markets, helping them decide where to sell their catch before it spoils.
The app, built using free online tutorials and a secondhand laptop, has already been downloaded by over 500 users in its first month, mostly through word of mouth at the docks.
'I used to watch my uncle guess which market was paying better that day. Now he just checks his phone,' said the app's creator, Tonbra Green.
