Local Chef Brings Wakirike Seafood Cuisine to Lagos Food Festival
By Dumo Green· 23 June 2026
A local chef represented Wakirike seafood cuisine at a major Lagos food festival this month, drawing long queues for her signature periwinkle pepper soup and smoked catfish stew.
It was the first time the kingdom's cuisine had a dedicated stall at the festival, which draws tens of thousands of visitors annually.
'People kept asking me where this food has been all their lives. I told them, right here, we just never had a stage this big before,' the chef said.
